The death of Ahmaud Arbery has caught the attention of millions of Americans, including the family of Trayvon Martin, according to TMZ.
The parents of Trayvon Martin, who was fatally shot back in 2012, said that they want to meet the parents of Ahmaud Arbery.
The attorney representing Ahmaud’s mother, Lee Merritt said that the goal is to get both sets of parents on a phone call in the near future.
So far, they have not set a specific day or time.
Merritt also claims that the meeting of the two families will hopefully allow them to encourage each other, being that both families have endured a tragedy.
Ahmaud’s father’s attorney is allegedly Ben Crumb, who’s worked with Trayvon’s family.
Due to the pandemic, the meeting will have to be virtual, so they will settle for a phone or video call for now.
Allegedly, both parties are eager to make it happen.
More from TMZ:
As you know … Ahmaud was killed on a Brunswick, GA road back in February after being confronted by 2 armed white men — Travis and Gregory McMichael — who claim they thought he was a suspect in a series of recent burglaries. They weren’t arrested until last week when video leaked of the incident, which has since been described as “modern-day lynching.”
Trayvon was also unarmed when he was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in February 2012 during a physical confrontation. Zimmerman claimed self-defense and was acquitted of murder in the notorious “stand your ground” case.
