Just before the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans kicked off their game, they held a social justice moment, which has been deemed “moment of unity,” was met with heavy backlash from fans, according to BizPacReview.

The Kansas City crowd gathered for the NFL’s opening game of the 2020 season was met with boos from the crowd, likely a push for the NFL to keep to sports, and not politics.
Messages such as “It takes all of us” and “We believe Black lives matter” flashed on the screens as the players attempted to have a moment of silence for racial equality.

Wow. There appeared to be loud boos from the Kansas City crowd during “the moment of unity,” a call for social justice, as the Chiefs and Texans lined up and linked arms before the NFL opener.

Pathetic! Some #ChiefsKingdom fans are booing the teams for their moment of unity during the National Anthem 🇺🇸 | #HOUvsKC

What’s worse than a milquetoast, inoffensive “moment of unity”? People booing that milquetoast, inoffensive “moment of unity.”

are…people actually booing this?! #HOUvsKC pic.twitter.com/XiUrcZp582

Yeah, so that booing during the “show of unity” is a real good example of why players feel so strongly about these causes in the first place.

At #NFLKickoff, Chiefs fans boo & someone yells “Trump 2020” as teams lock-arms in “moment of unity” for social justice https://t.co/RB2jtMVoCL

Concerning the booing at the #chiefstexans game, if you listen to the video of the moment of unity uploaded by the NFL, at 0:53 you can hear someone yell "Trump 2020," which is when the booing starts: https://t.co/Gbvoq3ia1x

They weren’t booing “unity” you dolts. They were booing the fact that the Texans didn’t show up on the field until after the national anthem—on the eve of 9/11 no less. #HOUvsKC https://t.co/Yc8IXVP3YX

The boos during the moment of unity should make it very clear that it was never about the flag or the anthem. Those people don't want racism to be challenged, regardless of the when, where or how.

A 9-11 tribute would have been nice. The fans were booing the pandering millionaires who were paying tribute to criminals, not unity.
— DeniseVB (@blogho) September 11, 2020
The national anthem was a moment of unity, though it went w/o saying. Unfortunately, some NFL players chose to insert their politics into it & destroy that unity. Does anyone honestly believe that smearing America as nothing but racists & then demanding "unity" was gonna fly?

Sports is supposed to be an escape.
An escape from all of the difficult things we face as a nation. Where we can all just come together for the love of the game.
This crap divides people whether it – ought to or not.
Just run around and freaking play.

More from BizPacReview:
While the R&B duo Chloe X Halle performed the national anthem which was streamed on video screens in Arrowhead Stadium Thursday, the Houston Texans remained in their locker room and one Kansas City Chiefs player took a knee on the field.
As the Texans emerged through the tunnel onto the field after the song had ended, fans met them with boos. The reactions continued as members of both teams met and lined up on center field with interlocking arms.
